Speculative building in jackson business park
The Jackson-Shaw Group has announced plans for a new speculative building in the Northwest Business Park, which would add about 178,000 square feet of industrial space. The two buildings would be constructed on an empty five-acre site at N172 W21843 Northwest Passage. The proposed buildings will feature clear heights of 32 feet and 16 dock-high doors. There will be 109 parking spaces and 12 optional trailer drops.
The spec buildings are designed to attract new industries to the area. Logan Properties is constructing the building to attract new industries to the area, which are often slow to make expansion decisions in this economy. A move-in-ready spec building is the number one attraction for new industries, which are more likely to consider a community with this type of spec building. The town of Ossian is also willing to provide up to three years of interest reimbursement payments to help the companies pay for the building.
The first spec building is scheduled to be occupied in 2020. The second spec building is expected to be four times as large, with a total of 423,280 square feet. The building is located on the frontage road of Interstate 55 North and includes an adjacent pad for a further 100,000 square feet of space. All utilities are within the park, including a carbon dioxide pipeline. The building is situated within easy reach of the interstate, and it offers low cost of doing business.
In addition to offering affordable, existing buildings for new businesses in the area, the Mega Site offers speculative buildings for lease. The development will provide a competitive option to existing building projects, enabling companies to get to market quicker. The development of these new buildings will further boost the local economy. The investment will benefit the city by attracting new businesses and jobs to the area. And the construction process will be completed faster than it has in the past.
Jackson currently has a 400-acre industrial park south of downtown Jackson. Five different industries operate within this park. Additionally, there is significant undeveloped acreage in the northwest of the City as part of the Northwest Industrial Development Concept. In addition, the City recently acquired 350 acres of undeveloped land southwest of the land sought in these proceedings. However, many developers are still concerned about whether these additional boundaries are adequate. It is worth noting that the proposed boundaries include a portion of this land.
BI and opponents of the expansion claim that Jackson does not have a long-term vision for the area. In fact, BI has said that the city lacks residential development in the area and that it is not growing at a rapid pace. As a result, Jackson will likely have to consider other possibilities for the future. This proposal would require a 4.3-mile stretch of corporate boundaries that are not bordered by neighboring municipalities.
In his analysis, the chancellor noted that Jackson is a statutory defendant under the Mississippi Code and has invested substantial resources in the annexation. Jackson also argues that the PIA/PAA falls within its path of growth. BI concurs, and notes that Jackson was awarded a portion of the area sought to annex. Further, the chancellor reduced the PIA to allow annexation to the area south of the city limits.
The annexation process is complex. BI’s plan to expand the area to include four square miles was rejected because it would have adverse effects on the unincorporated portions of Jackson. The trial court, on the other hand, found that the proposed expansion of Jackson’s boundaries was not a good fit for the surrounding neighborhoods. It is not clear what will happen to the entire parcel. But there is one important piece of information that should be known:
MAPS Air Museum
The MAPS Air Museum is run by the Military Aviation Preservation Society. It is located off SR241 on the west side of the Akron-Canton Regional Airport. Admission is free. The rezoning proposal was recommended by the county planning commission. It is expected to be voted on by the board of supervisors next month. The developers enlisted Roth Jackson attorney Andy Condlin to help them with the proposal. The Willow Lawn Drive portion of the project would rise on the west side of Willow Lawn Drive on a 2.5-acre Crenshaw property. The development would include one and two-bedroom apartments with a parking deck.
MAPS Air Museum
If you’re interested in aviation and you live in the area, you may want to check out the MAPS Air Museum at Jackson Business Park. It’s operated by the Military Aviation Preservation Society, and it’s located off SR241 on the west side of the Akron-Canton Regional Airport. This museum contains vintage aircraft from all eras, including the World War II era. You can learn about military aircraft from the aviators who flew them.
One of the highlights of the museum is its OV-1 Mowhawk reconnaissance aircraft, which served as the personal transport aircraft for deceased Vietnam War veterans. The museum’s collection has grown from three aircraft to more than fifty-two. In 2015, the Ohio Military Museum moved into the museum, and the collection has increased from three to 52 aircraft. Since the opening of the museum, COVID-19 has affected air travel, but the museum is still open to the public.
A nonprofit organization, MAPS’ staff is entirely run by volunteers. Volunteers restore planes, give tours and work in the gift shop. Several of the volunteers are veterans. Bob Williams, Larry Karadin and Ken Alexander are among those who volunteer at MAPS. The museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with late hours on Wednesdays. It is closed on major holidays.
