The district sports center is a dedicated facility for research, training, and development of sports. Maxville & District Sports Complex
North Glengarry ice users are set to return to the Maxville & District Sports Complex in time for fall and winter 2021-22. The entire project will be completed at the same time as the reconstruction of the Glengarry Sports Palace. Township of North Glengarry council approved the re-construction of the Sports Palace slab in August 2019.
The Maxville & District Sports Complex opened in 1978. It was financed through a fund raising drive, donations from local governments, and grants from service clubs. The complex features an NHL regulation ice rink named after local hockey star Osie F. Villeneuve. Outside the arena, the complex features two baseball diamonds, two soccer fields, and a children’s playground. The facility is open to the public for rentals and enhanced programming throughout the year.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation provided $490,600 to build the Maxville & District Sports Complex on Fair Street. The project also features an HVAC system that will allow the complex to be used during the off-season.
